"Full House” at Canterbury School

Dear Parents and pupils, the following is a translation of the article about five outstanding Canterbury School pupils recently published in the local island newspaper “Canarias 7”.  We would like to congratulate all of them on their achievements: an excellent example for our younger pupils to follow.

“Five Canterbury School pupils are in the headlines for their recent outstanding academic achievements which presage an even more brilliant future. Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and London (Edexcel) have highlighted three Canterbury School pupils for their results in the June 2012 worldwide examinations

Marta Martin has obtained the best mark in Europe in the IGCSE Statistics examination and the highest mark in the world in IGCSE Spanish Literature:  YunFei Li obtained the highest mark in Spain in both AS Physics and AS Chemistry and Julia Lopez Delgado obtained the highest mark in Spain in A level Chemistry.

Canterbury School emphasized that both CIE and EDEXCEL are prestigious institutions in the United Kingdom whose examinations are sat by thousands of students all over the world.

In addition to this, three pupils from the same educational institution have received offers to begin their University Studies in three of the top eight World Universities  according to the “The Times” ranking.

In September 2013, Judith Gonzalez Santana will begin a career in “Earth Sciences” at Oxford University, YunFei will be off  to pursue a degree Chemical Engineering  at the University of Cambridge and Yutong Song will attend Imperial College London to study Chemistry with Spanish for Science .

In the words of Pedro Tomas, the Secondary Head,“ We are proud to let Canarian Society in general know who these pupils are.  They are the future and a better future is what we are all striving for.”
