P6 students have been researching Egyptian Art this last term and they have made an Egyptian headdress to wear. Well done to all classes for their hard work.


Artist of the week has been won by Rafa McCarthy from S2D for his excellent research and artist study of the Japanes artist Hokusai.


P5 have been learning about the ancient Greeks who were master potters. Historians have learnt so much about them by studying the paintings on their pots, such as how they lived, what they ate and the sports they took part in. Here are P5´s pots with a “modern twist” on the ancient greek designs.

Artist of the week goes to ANGELS GINE CASTELLVI from P6B for her excellent sketch of King Tutankhamun.


As part of our design and Technology unit called “containers”, P4 have designed a range of containers based on their mother’s interests, ranging from bird houses, mini stables, jewellery boxes to vases. We used various joining methods and materials such as lollypop sticks, hot glue and paper mache. We decorated them with bright, sparkling colors so our Mothers would be delighted with them on Mothers Day.


S5 art students have just finished their 15 hour AS art exam with some excellent results. Good luck to them all and work can be seen at the Canterbury school art evening on Wednesday June 16th at 7pm.


Last week 20 S4 art IGCSE Art students sat their 8 hour art exam. All worked really well as the end results show.Their work and their coursework will be displayed on Wednesday June 16th at the Canterbury School Art evening.


What a lovely surprise for Miss Lindsay!! On the first day back at school all the children in Primary performed the Wizard of Oz as a surprise for Miss Lindsay who unfortunately missed the original shows. It was beautiful and everybody said how well the children performed it at the end of last term. Congratulations to all the children and teachers and thank you for your hard work. Thank you also to the parents for their help with the costumes.


4C have been studying and writing modern legends. They have gone on to create their own 'Superheroes' using felt and their sewing skills. A very enjoyable topic!


Where would we be without friends?! In PSHE 4A have been talking about friendship. The class have sat down and written one thing they like about each child in their class. At the end of the session everybody will have 25 wonderful things to read about themselves!


In third grade the children are making a mural highlighting the different ways we are endangering the Canary Islands through pollution. The finished murals will be handed in to the Canarian Government. Remember ... we can all do our bit to help the environment!!

Artist of the week is Juan of P6A for his excellent sketch of a pair of football boots.


A Caterpillar was found on the patio so the K1 children made a home for it in their classroom. Miss Kelly found out it was the Death head hawk moth species. Gradually, its began to shrivel up until, it shedded its skin and left behind a bright yellow chrysalis. Later that day, it changed colour again…K1 are now waiting for it to emerge from its chrysalis. What will it look like?

Artist of the week goes to Virginia from S2C for 3 pieces of excellent art work. A title page , an artist study and a collage all of which received marks of 10, well done Virginia!


Artist of the week for his excellent carnival costume is Luis from P6A. I think he had a little help from his mum who dressed him and his sister as I Pods how clever!

P6 have been working really hard to finish thier boomerangs which were based on Aboriginal art. they then tested them out in the playground and many found that the boomerangs came back! well done P6 and keep up the good work

Well done to Thomas Bamber of S1B for his excellent sketch which has earned him the last artist of the week of 2009.

Artist of the week for her excellent boomerang designs is Olivia Torres from P6D.

Last week P6 students started to draw their favourite insects and some very interesting drawings were achieved. Many were very exciting but Ksenia's work from P6A really stood out. Well done Ksenia and keep up the good work P6.

This week Saul from S1D has won the prize for artist of the week with his lovely faces collage.

Last week at Canterbury School S4,5 and 6 students participated in a workshop with professional Welsh artist Mrs. Sharman Gainfort. She did some fantastic work with the pupils based on the human form in the landscape. The students used chalks, charcoal, inks and dyes and all got very messy. The work will now be used for their coursewok and Mrs. Gainfort will be available to all the students if they need help in the future. Well done to all involved in the very enjoyable day and a half.

A well deserved artist of the week goes to Miriam Teixeira of S2D for her excellent sketches of Pandas. Well done Miriam.

Artist of the week ending 20th February was Gloria Gotierez of P6D for her lovely shoe sketch.

Our second artist of the week this term goes to Carolina Collado of S1B. Well done and keep up the good work.
