Dear Parents,

As you may be aware your son/daughter in S1 has been working on a project in music class called “Stomp!”
in which the pupils have created rhythmic performances without the use of instruments. The final
performance of this will take place on Wednesday 11th March in the school’s Chaucer Theatre at 2.15pm. Parents are invited to attend if they wish and lend their support to the pupils (every pupil in S1 will take part).

A big thank you to all the children who brought in money both for the cake stall held before Christmas and for wearing “street clothes” on the last day of school. We raised 370 Euros for Cáritas and 373 Euros for San Juan de Dios. The Senior department also raised 356,10 € on their “Mufty Day” for the association Idea, which cooperates with the ONG in Honduras, to provide food for schools. We have received letters from the different organisations which can be seen here. We would also like to thank those families who donated food for the Cruz Blanca and the Obra Social San Benito for Christmas. We have supported these charities for many years and thank you all for your continued support.

Received letters.

Sharmila (Shaina's (3A) mum) came to school on Tuesday to talk about India and show us some of the clothes children wear and the sweets they like. She brought enough different clothes for 15 children, boys and girls, to dress up and show the class. She explained where they might wear the clothes, to a wedding party, out shopping or just casual wear. The children showed off their clothes to the rest of the class. Miss Louise was given a Sari to wear and we were shown how one is put on to wear. The sweets we had back in the classroom. The children found most of them delicious. A big thank you to Sharmila.  It will be one of the things we remember most about our topic on India.

Estimados padres:

Dear Parents,
We would like to inform you of the important dates of this final year of your child's school career. Your child already has the dates of the internal examinations for the second and final evaluations so they will be able to organise their revision time effectively. Needless to say they should dedicate the necessary number of hours to revision to guarantee that they obtain high grades in the Selectividad examination. Those pupils who do not pass the year internally will not be able to sit the Selectividad in June but will take recuperation examinations at the end of August. If they pass these, they will sit the September Selectividad examination. On the 28th and 29th May all pupils will take a 'mock' Selectividad in the same conditions as the test. The actual Selectividad will take place on June 4th and 5th at the UNED centre in Las Palmas. The registration for this will made towards the end of April.
June 2009
Classes will continue as normal after our internal examinations up till June 3rd inclusive. Any absence till this date should be justified by a note from parents.
During May our pupils will receive information about registering at State Universities both in the Canary Islands and the rest of Spain.

27-02-2009 S6: INFORMATION CIRCULAR FOR PARENTS OF 'SELECTIVIDAD' PUPILS.

Carnival has arrived and we will be celebrating our party on Friday 20th February. We remind parents that this party is for the children to celebrate with their teachers only. This year it would help us to enjoy the day more, if the children came to school already dressed in their costumes. We ask you to ensure that the children wear or bring comfortable shoes as they will be playing games, dancing, etc… throughout the day. It is also important that they bring something warm to wear (coat, jacket) as the weather is changeable and some costumes are very thin. Thank you for your understanding. The school will be closed for the Carnival Holiday on the 23rd and 24th February.

17-02-2009 Carnival.

On Friday 20th February 2009 our Department will celebrate a Carnival Party. We are looking forward to seeing our pupils dressed up in their favourite costumes. Please, feel free to send in any Party food (chips, juice, etc) for the children to share in their classrooms.
We take the opportunity to wish you all a great Carnival time.

As part of our Literacy this term we are looking in detail at a famous children’s author, Julia Donaldson. For their homework we would like the children to find out as much information as they can about her and present their findings in a project. This could be done as a book, on a large piece of card or as a power point presentation. We would like the projects back in by Wednesday 25th February.
Some helpful web sites are:

Since the beginning of September 2008 we have been busy installing Interactive White boards in every classroom in the Primary department. These ‘Smartboards’ are becoming an essential teaching aid and the children have adapted to them very quickly and love using them. Virtually all of the resources we buy from the UK are adapted especially for these whiteboards. There is a whole new world at the end of our fingertips!

Attached you will find the timetable for May and June exams. This is a provisional timetable. Once all entries have been processed a final timetable will be published.

19-01-2009 PROVISIONAL TIMETABLE FOR IGCSE,AS,AL EXAMS MAY/JUNE.

Dear Parents,
The reports containing the results of the Mock examinations will be handed out on Friday 23rd January. There will be a meeting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28th for all parents who would like further information for pupils in S4 and one on Thursday, January 29th for parents of S5.
