1st Term

As teachers we tend to spend a lot of time with the students who seek our attention for negative reasons and that is the reason why ,to be fair on our numerous students who always work very hard or, who decide to start making efforts, we have decided to set up the concept of " the A team". The teachers have to “nominate" their students according to 3 different or complementary criteria:
1. Excellent efforts
2. and/or Excellent progress
3. and/or Excellent results....

The School show titled “Christmas Spells Christmas” of the Canterbury School in Maspalomas was a huge success, considering it was the first time that the children had acted on stage at the theatre “La Casa de la Cultura”.

The teachers surprised the head teacher, Miss Jennifer with a bunch of flowers. Many thank to all the teachers and parents for their hard work, help and collaboration.

We would like to remind you the Christmas Concerts Dates and times.

Tuesday 15th December - 11:30 -12:30 - P1 and P2 pupils only

Thursday 17th December - 11:00 - 12:00 - P3, P4 and P5 pupils only

The third and final group of S6 A-Level students completed their Infant School challenge on Wednesday. The 12 students, most of whom have either completed or are about to complete their UK University applications, ran a mini-sports day for all seventy K3 children. This brings to an end a trail programme of inter-curriculum phase cooperation between the oldest in our school and some of the youngest. It gives K3s something to aspire to and also provides the opportunity for the S6s to revisit their more distant past in Canterbury School. Every S6C student had the opportunity to be involved and we’re glad they did!. The Sixth Form would especially like to thank the K3 teachers and the Infant Head Teacher for allowing us to participate in their school day. The S6C students will use their experience of the International Award as part of the application process for entrance to British Universities in 2010, which requires students to demonstrate a willingness to volunteer and lead others in challenging circumstances.

We would like to congratulate and thank all those students and parents who took part in the XXIV El Corte Inglés race last 22 November. They all had a fantastic performance finishing all their races. A special congratulation for Christian Ruiz from P6 who won the race of his age group. We hope you have enjoyed this experience.

The second of three small groups of S6 A-Level (UK University) students completed their Infant School challenge on Wednesday. The S6 students worked with all K3s children by performing a play of the famous story "Little Red Riding Hood". Follow up activities included character building and group work. The S6 students will use their experience of the International Award as part of the application process for entrance to British Universities in 2010, which requires students to demonstrate a willingness to volunteer and lead others.

Following this link you can access the online newspaper S6C students are developing as part of their Spanish course in S6. Perhaps there is a Pedro J.Ramírez hidden in this group of students...

The first of three small groups of S6 A-Level (UK University) students completed one of their most challenging projects to date when they organised and ran an activity for 70 K3 students! The S6 students worked tirelessly to ensure all K3s were involved in a selection of activities on Wednesday afternoon. Lots of educational games were played, fun was had by all and lots and lots of glittery stickers were handed out. The S6 students will use their experience of the International Award as part of the application process for entrance to British Universities next year, which requires students to demonstrate a willingness to volunteer and lead others.

S4,S5 and S6 students can now have access to these for the IGCSE Science and AS/AL Chemistry, Biology and Physics in the student area of the school network. In the next few weeks the downloads section of the school's webpage will contain these. Please check them up regularly.

Dear Parents: As this week we are introducing colour yellow we would like the children to bring something of that colour from home so we can do a class collage. Possible material such as: ribbon, wool, buttons. It isn’t necessary to send stationary materials such as card or paper as we have these items at school.

Welcome to the secondary Section of the Canterbury School and a new start of the partnership between parents and school. We believe this partnership to be of crucial importance in ensuring the best possible education for your child. We will endeavour to keep you informed of the specific progress of your daughter or son (through the Homework Diary, Reports and Parents’ Evenings) and of general developments in the school, particularly through our website. We ask, in turn, that you support us as, although the attitude shown by your daughter or son and the talents that she/he has are very important in ensuring that his/her full potential is realised, the interest and encouragement you show are probably the most significant factors in determining how successful your daughter or son will be.In this handbook you will find detailed information which we hope will answer most of your questions about the routines of Canterbury School. If, however, you have any further queries, then please do not hesitate to talk to us about
them.We look forward to working closely with you
