For the last 3 years, the school has begun to take part in a series of talks regarding misuse of Internet, bullying, abuse of drugs and alcohol, and domestic violence. During this year, these talks will be given Mr. Francisco Milán Negrin, member of the police corps, to S3, S4, S5 and S6 starting with alcohol and drug abuse.

S4 and S6 art students visited Casa Cólon to observe and draw some of the portraits in the museum. This is a vital part of their coursework and an  excellent experience to try to learn how famous artists did their work.

Dear parents of P2, P3, P4 and P5,

Maths is one of the subjects that we get asked about most due to the different methods used in the British system compared to the Spanish system. This year, like last year, we are offering maths workshops.

HEC_4141Last weekend, the great majority of year 12 students enjoyed a tremendously productive two day one night induction programme in our school in the south. They participated in a wide variety of team games  and workshops designed to foster transferrable skills which we consider vital for students who choose to continue their studies with us here at Canterbury. Consequently, we firmly believe they are now far more aware of and prepared for the challenges which lie ahead over the next two academic years.

Dear Parents,

At the start of a new school year I would like to welcome all pupils who are either joining the Secondary School for the first time and those who are returning after what we hope was a wonderful summer holiday and come back to school with a desire to learn.

We would like to invite you and your son/daughter to a presentation concerning the University Visit Programme 2012. The presentation is designed to clarify the objective of the visit and give an overview of how Canterbury School prepares students for University life. The visit programme is designed specifically to aid your son/daughter to decide if studying abroad beyond Canterbury School is suitable for them and give them an invaluable insight into life at University in general

bienvenidos_maspalomasDear parents,

Welcome back! Firstly, I would like to thank you for the confidence that you have placed in our school and for your continued support. I would also like to welcome those parents and children who are new to the school this year, and extend a warm welcome to our new teacher Miss Emma who will be substituting Miss Kelly’s maternity leave.

We would like to invite you and your son/daughter to a presentation concerning the options available for S4 students considering Higher Education after Canterbury School. The presentation is designed to clarify the different routes available, provide detail of both Spanish and British systems in S5 and S6, and give an overview of how Canterbury School prepares students for this transition period in their life.

On Thursday 15th September there will be an information meeting at 4.15 pm in the school theatre. Attached you will find a downloadable information booklet for you to read before the meeting.

kit list - 150Your son/daughter has successfully entered the Sixth Form (S5/S6) at Canterbury School. The Sixth Form is beyond compulsory education and is principally in place to assist your son/daughter to gain accession into Higher Education establishments; albeit a University or a vocational training institution.

The students (and teachers) returned to Gran Canaria after the trip to Barcelona and the Pyrenees. Everybody came back exhausted but happy after a week of activities which included quads, rafting, museums, Port Aventura ...It is time now to rest and wait for  IGCSE results.

In preparation for September could you please ensure that each student has an English dictionary. Also, please find attached lists of suggested fiction for Lower School students. These lists are in no way compulsory reading, rather recommendations if your child wishes to keep up their reading habits over the summer!
